You aren’t the first person to ask about Gaius but I have never answered those asks (sorry) because he doesn’t have a story or much of… anything ((sorry)). I am happy people like his design even so.

Gaius was originally made for an RP group on Tegaki E (RIP) called Aquatica, or something like that, based on the existence of singing merpeople who lived alongside nomadic fishmen and other races. When I first app’d him, I knew my style of design was not normal human upper body with a tail so I ended up making him very scaly with very large, dark irises in his eyes. I came up with the idea that the scales reflected his age, so when he was a little one he was indeed much more fleshy but with age the scales spread, so much that even his hair was displaced (he is not trendy enough for an undercut lol). His current design is all scale except for his face and ears, median torso, and the insides of his hands. He was loosely based on stonefish so when threatened or surprised, his poisonous spines may protrude from his body. He is more skilled in camoflauge/circumvention and weak in combat/anything confrontational. In terms of personality he is pretty dense… can be short-tempered, and more distant than other merpeople may be. His dream is to befriend a human, but once long in the past he stuck one with his spines so he always thinks back to that event.. His main hobby is collecting beautiful or unique stones & rocks. His voice is deep yet quiet, his teeths are sharp, and his tail is long. That’s it!!!!
